ATI used to make damn good cards (see 9*00 series), but now they're employing tactics which Nvidia have used in the past, which i consider extremely lame.
Really, if you want a future-proofed card, which will do what it needs to do from day 1, go for an Nvidia card (GeForce 6800 series). If you want a card which currently has lower OpenGL performance, but will most likely increase in the future, go for a ATI card (Radeon x800 series).
Bear in mind though, you should buy the card to match the game you want to play. If you want games based on Doom3's or Crytek's engine, buy an Nvidia. If you want HL2-based or Unreal3 based games, buy an ATI.
Andeh said:I have to vote nVidia because I have always used nVidia cards even when ATI have turned out on top, I believe nVidia are much more of a "professional" company and support their cards alot better than ATI. Also my mate has one of the newer Radeons (not sure which one) and his problems with games are never ending![]()
