We have checked on the server and checked with the server host and there are no reports of any problems with both. All system seem to be fine on the server and host companies end.

I understand lag like this is a pain but it does not seem to be server related.

Makes me laugh when players think their home BB is more infallible than a professional dedicated connection. Logic fail

pretty sure it WAS server related as pretty much everyone lagged out at the same time on many many different ISPs? coincidence? I think not.

As I have said there are no reports of any errors at our end.
The logs show a number of players logged out around the same time (140+ players stayed in game and had no issues) and we understand this was due to some lag but as has been said we checked on the server and contacted the hosting company and found no issues.

Even so we will keep an eye on this and have also asked the hosting company to report to us if the find any issues related to the machine.

Coincidence is not a word I used. The problem was more than likely one of the main carriers. You said it yourself, "pretty much everyone" as in not everyone. The server obviously still had open connections to some locations.

I didn't lag a bit in Romania. You do realize the major ISPs in every country send certain traffic (say to specific IP) through the same pipe, no?

I have had the same ISP since 1996 I can guarantee its one of the most obscure ISP I doubt anyone else has it and I didn't lag out the first time when others did but then I did lag out the second time... too much of a coincidence that so many different ISP all went down at the exact same time? clearly was server related my internet did not go down neither did anyone else we were in a huge Skype call and no one got disconnected from the call.

Obscurity doesn't play into it. PS: they use the same internet line the bigger ones use, which is itself leased from even bigger continent boss level ISPs.

As I said, all (or most) ISPs in a country/region route traffic to certain internet destinations (say twitch.tv) through the exact same nodes. If one of those nodes encounters an issue/is throttled/whatever, the issue manifests for all users of all ISPs who route through that node.

I didn't lag for one second, let alone d/c. I don't know what to say. >.<

Relevant reading.

I honestly have no other technical explanation for why users on multiple ISPs would disconnect at the same time, while others in the same country don't and while the majority in other countries also don't.

As I have said we had no issue with the server machine or the servers hosting company. No errors where reported and all was fine on our end (140+ people where still in game at the time of this lag out) the logs do show a number of players had an issue and logged out but as I have said 140+ players had no issues at all.

From the looks of things some ISPs had an issue with the path they use to one of the main internet hubs, stuff like this happens all the time on the internet and 99.9999% of the time nobody will notice anything as the data path is just changed due to an issue on one path.

This talk of oh my internet did not drop or my IP call was fine has nothing to do with anything, they use different paths to connect to the services that they are using. Services like Skype have systems in place for events like this where if there is an issue with a path to their services they switch to another path and nobody will notice anything different. they have systems in place to manage events like this so that users calls do not drop.

Mir is an open source, very low budget private server game, there is no system in place for events like a main internet hub having a hiccup. If the connection is lost to Mir even if it is only for half a second the players will be logged out.

These are the simple facts of the matter, I do not know how much more clearer I can make this.

The magical information train broke down for a second. An appropriate answer for the uneducated.
