you can apply that theory to anything, but you forget some people cant moderate themselves.
Weed is addictive, i have a mate who cant go a day without a joint.
I've been smoking weed for a good few years now, and I've gone weeks without a spliff, just to prove to myself I can do it. And I can!
However, Sawell makes a valid point that weed does lead onto harder things, myself being an example of this, however I must disagree on the reason you put forward for people moving onto harder drugs, weed still gets me stoned, therefore I still do it regularly, it's not a case of replacing weed with harder drugs, it's a case of doing harder drugs for the higher states of euphoria.
Drugs have ****ed up my life, now I'm mentally addicted to quite a few of them, therefore I'm not going to stop unless I really want to, and quite simply I don't.
You all seem to think that drugs are all about image, or not giving a **** about your life, but I do! What you seem to forget is the sheer pleasure of it. I often find myself ashamed to tell people about what/how many drugs I've done, simply because I'm not proud of it. I'm still in college, moving on to my A2 subjects next year.
I can also see some of your views, I've seen a few of my mates in situations I wish I hadn't. Drugs arn't glamourous.
Of course it's only going to be the users of the drugs defending them, because they are the only ones who actually know what it's all about. You can claim to know everything about a drug, but you don't untill you have actually tried it. The feelings given to a user by a drug cannot be put into words, for those who haven't tried them, it's simply incomprehendable.
You may look down on me because of my views, many have, but I am passionate about them.
