There are three ways to name a Chinese year:

1. By an animal (like a mscot).
This year is known as the Year of the Dog.

I dont think calling people stupid who dont know when the chinese new year is all that bright to be quite honest, is there any particular reason why the people here (majority not being asian) should care?

Oh, i totally agree that having a well rounded knowledge about other countries is good i still dont think you should classify people who dont have the same knowledge as stupid. Even if the majority of this forum are.

90% of what LOMCN is today is because of the Chinese
99% of all the files we use (Mir2, Mir3 and Woool) are Chinese
99% of the updates we get are from the Chinese

If it was not for the Chinese Mir priv servers would not be where they are today

So yes I think we should care

Also a party with 1,306,313,812 (population of china alone) people is something we all should know about

Reguardless of where you are from and what race you are

Also the Chinese respect our new year and they are not european/american/westeners so why should any of us not being asian make a differance to us showing our respect
