Yes.
I finished reading the book last night, and it is pretty fantastic.

I wont spoil the ending for you all, as i myself spent the day away from papers and internets.

All i will say is the movie for it, should be unbelievable.

Ill agree with you there, the ending was mediocre at the best.

It wasn't that bad. I expected her to cheap out on the ending but I wouldn't go so far as to say the deaths were meaningless

The only deaths I thought were pointless was Lupin and Tonks, just was so random and crap. The rest just showed it was an actual war and lots of people die in wars.

Dobby's death was the saddest I thought :/. Did like that Snape was good but his reason for it (Loving Lily) was a bit crappy. And Ron running away again was stupid.

Enjoyed the rest though and thought it was a fitting end to the series didn't leave me wanting more but didn't leave me never wanting to read it ever again

Contains spoilers about the entire book.

This was the second ending this year that occured after a ****ty fight, first heroes, and now this. Its like a one spell ending, it should have been a hardcore fight to the death. Heroes was guilty of the same crap. I was hoping that Harry would control all the deathly hallows and seriously blast some face or something. Still the storyline was actually good, it had a lot of actions spread out (raid on the wedding, the ministry, gringotts bank) instead of the usual "naughty children" act that pans out to a slightly deflating ending.

Yes.
I also agree that Tonks and Lupin were usless deaths. They had just given birth to their son Ted and therefore he is in a way the new Harry Potter. I just thought the ending lacked direction, i expected a blood thirsty battle to the end, however Voldermorts death is duely down to assumption rather then a concrete depiction. I also thought the last line should be paramount however 'his scar hadnt hurt for 19 years all was well' just didnt do it for me. I wont slay the series or the book, it rocked and it did the rest justice, i just felt it was a little of a comedown from the scenes we had experience in book six

Never read one, and saw the first film that came out.

Never interested me, but then again to be fair, the last book i read will have been a goosebumps one when i was about 11!!

Awesome book, liked all of it.
Totally agree, Finished the book just now. A great way to round it all off, Can't wait for the film equivalent although it'll be cut short.. should still be amazing.

Ideally I wanted to read it all the day it came out, Alas work got in the way =/

A part of me still feels a bit dissheartened that it's ended though. Nothing lasts forever I guess :)

I think doing the film for this one is going to be difficult, but easy :/ explained in spoilers.

Theres a lot of action to get into the film, and theres no way in hell that can be cut. However there is a lot of other material that can easily be removed, like when they are on the run and camping, a good bit of that can be chopped out.

and onto the book discussion

I honestly wanted the ending to be far more "powerful." I hate to say it but Harry was never really a hero, he's just some guy who got by on a load of lucky breaks, consequences and a bit of thinking. I mean, he didn't even kill Voldermort, the ****ing wand did it for him, because it was a fluke circumstance. After he died, he should have been deemed worthy to own/hold the deathly hallows and been turned into some badass powerful sorcerer, then there should have been a hardcore duel where he realises the power is inside him, and he casts of the hallows and does some hardcore lightning **** with his hands and rapes voldermort. The reason JK went for the ****ty ending is probably because she doesnt want the "hero" being a killer or some ****.
