That's why i thought, i kinda new he wouldn't do anything but if someone else would of got involved, where's the knife? no one knows could of just been a quick slight of hand and someone get's hurt or worse, If he wasn't my friend maybe i would of thought twice about calling the police, but end of the day my lifes worth more than having it end in a second by a "Friend", I've been told hes not in a stable mind hes done alot of drugs in the past and thats why the police think he might have done it, but over the past 2 years i know he hasn't touched the stuff or so i think.

I've already said to everyone in our group of "friends", if any of them have a problem with me calling the police, come talk to me about it, so far no takers as i know none of them would come talk to me about it.

Fact is he had a knife on him. What reason does anyone have for carrying a knife nowadays besides using it on someone. Dont come back sayin it may have been for self defence. If no1 carried knives then no1 would need to defend themselves from them.

The law is there to stop things like this, and worse. I definately dont agree with a lot of the stuff the govornment and police come up with but in this day n age why the fk does anyone need a knife when wandering the streets?

Because others feel threatened.

It brings to the question, why would one need to carry a knife in the first place.

Well as Prai pointed out, a person would carry a knife for fear of attack.

With the amount of knife crime about, people are starting to protect themselves in ways and means that they can. In places like Sheffield and Manchester, people carry knives and guns in certain areas. Not because they are out to kill someone, or even have the intention of attacking anyone. But its there for protection and unfortuantly we are turning into a country where the only way to protect yourself is to carry a weapon.

Yet Sheffield has a relatively low amount of knife crime compared to some of the other cities (I remember reading 55% of crimes are in London/Manchester/Birmingham alone).

The funny thing is I lived in Manchester for two years and never really came across any trouble like that yet saw it every day in more rural areas, I guess it depends alot on the areas you visit and people you meet.

You will find that gun crime in Sheffield is higher than knife crime, the street that my mum lives on Manchester has had 5 stabbings in last 3 month.

Strip seach is illegal unless being done by the police and on police premises.

You can be pat searched and asked to remove shoes and socks, but nothing else.

cant drop the charges nowadays once an arrest has been made, police wont even need dan to go to court if hes already given a statement.

I disagree with all of you saying ''good job'' ringing the old bill on him. So what he held a knife up to u, now the lad's gonna get jailed off for 2 years, you've lost all your friends, and every1 in your ends is gonna call u a grass.

stupidest reply in this thread. He broke the law carrying a knife around. Don't do it if you don't want to get caught. We need weapons off the streets and if people get away with it this will not happenk,i'm saying this as me and many people i know had trouble in past with knives etc that's why when i was 9 years old my dad put me through self defence doing thai boxing, now i'm 24, still try to avoid confrontation as much as possible but if you have no other choice you know that you can get yourself out of trouble.

In reply to the post you done the right thing in the situation and you shouldn't think twice that u didn't do the right thing. You could have beat the living crap out of him but in this case it wasn't necessary and you done the mature thing. About 2 years ago i was in the similar situation but with people i didn't know.. 2 chavs through a park held a knife up asking for my belongings. I done the same as you and saying Grow up and left it, unfortunatly they didn't back down and involved me getting arrested through self defence in fear for my life and nothing for them as they managed to dump the knife. Once again well done for being a man about it and keeping a level head in a very hard situation friend or no friend.

Are you always such an ass.

PP = Personal Protection - If you don't know the full layout of the training then google it and then come back to me with your snidey comment.

FEAR is a state of mind and I don't fear anyone, I have an attitude in life that if something is going to happen its going to happen for a reason.

If someone came at me with a knife, I would disable them from the knife and give them a good kicking. If there mates where also there and decided to jump in, so be it. But I would be the one with the knife at this point and I higly doubt anyone will be taking it off me.

People fear tards like this for no reason and thats what they thrive on, you give them no fear and they back down. You protect yourself against one and you protect yourself against the others, its the way of human life.

Now crawl back under your stone Liandrin, cause you know SFA about me.

in reply to this post yes you can disarm someone of a knife easily if you are trained to do so but really only if the person threatening you does not have the guts or intention to actually stab you. If the person threatening is going to stab ya you will be on the floor before you know it. You can only out react someone if they have a delay, if someone wants to stab you they are not going to hesitate. And all this hard man talk stating you do not fear anyone just shows even more that you are probably some underdeveloped skin and bones behind a PC with his cap pointing 90 degrees into the air. If anyone gets a knife held up to them and i mean any1 would be scared, it's just how you compose yourself when you are in fear which is different. Stop talking crap because if you really believe that you will soon see yourself getting your head smashed on a regular basis because there is always someone who will get the better of you, exept if your name is Bruce Lee :P
