It is indeed, but a number of people said that Ben was abandoning Low Rate FourHeros and everyone that donated would lose out, clearly this was never the case as LR is still up.

Think Ben is just making the point that Paul is doing exactly as he said Ben would do.

i am doing no such thing.
i have taken no money from salavtions.
the total amount of donations i think adds up to £145 over 3 months.
that does even cover the first months fees.
the rest of the months ive payed my seklf from my own pocket

people who make servers just for money are silly , they should get off there arse and get a job , people should make private servers because they fancy letting other people have fun and they should be happy that they amuse people

i got sick of darkrealm because the players where opsed to change and i felt i had no control with out the moaners so i decdied to create a lower rate server with out donations so i had full controll.

point im trying to make is he rants and ravs about others, like me, and claims his mr.perfect doing good for the "mir community"

i do love the way u always jump to pauls rescue lol. as celsuis said, i used a lot of the money that was made from OS to develop the current files we use, and OS was closed to futher develop them... (the reason was we had to start with a wiped db to continue progressin, so the decesion was made to make a new server).

4heros has nothing to do with this thread ne way, but obv it was gonna get bought up. low rate hasnt and still doesnt sell any items, so dont make paul out to be some sorta saint that never sells items

i rly dunno wot it is with some ppl... makin out that sellin items is such a bad thing. ive found out that servers where u can buy items gain a far better user count, and creates a better community with some rivivaly... as a lot of ppl wouldnt play FH LR because of not sellin items etc... hay ppl are just lazy and would rather pay for stuff.. its their money, if they want 2, why not. ive even paid for items in the past - no different than buyin a computer game/clothing, ne thing.

Ben wishes he had that much control over me, its all Hany, he owns me, i'm like a camel (no racism implied, nein abuse me Hany).

i ran a server that refused to take money for items.
i stuck to my word and as a consequence the server fees couldnt be covered.
i coverd them my self with the hope of things picking up etc but they didnt.
i carnt cover the costs with no job for ever can i.

I have just started an university course and im getn back in to website development and im havn a great time.
Bens items are expensive but thats his business.

my items cost £2.50..not exatly a fortune is it.

I just hope to god he leaves DR to Wayne and doesn't try to take it back off him.

Waynes a great guy and I can see him happily letting Paul worm his way back into it, eventually taking over the donation side of it as well.

I know it was your server, but I just think it would be unfair on wayne, who is now paying out of his own pocket for the dedi if you decided you wanted it back, thats all.

Mhh i never tooked Donations on old Servers not Amenon Lom3(Up 1 Year) Not Amenon -WOW ( Also up 1 Year ) . And also Red~Dragon (Fala Head GM) Where no Donations and it run also without it. I think to say noone that can hold the Dedi Coast should make a Server should make no Server. But If You do....... you should have ideas how to hold it alive without Donations if something will happen.

And to the Website i do not think its bad. But the Blue from Header ( Banner ) is not in Accordance with the rest Blue from Forum and the white outlines on frontside. i am sure it would be looking much better with very small / Thin white outlines . they are deffently to Big/fat

prices are high for stuff like x5 pots because i dont really want them buying loads and messin up the game

Yea I already have posted a few times, but there seems to be a big debate about it where the classes can't agree lol.

Obviously Warriors will defend that there is nothing wrong with the balance because they like to own, but two of the guys I played with actually left the server because they feel they can't compete as a Wizard. Shame really because they got me back into the server.

Probably going to follow them to Dark realm and play both servers part time. Just a shame really because it did not seem an issue until Warriors started to reach higher levels.
Probably the best attraction to 4H is the large player base if I'm honest, but if players continue to spit the dummy out and leave it will have a detrimental affect.

Anyway I'm sure your already aware of it.

thing is, its hard to listen to players veiws.. as they will just vote / cry for whatever beneits them

which is why ive been attending SWs and fighting on GM made characters to try get a feel for the class

so ppl just gotta bare with me while do my own testing.. as im the only 1 that can give an unbiased opinion cause i dont play

The reason i am not hosting it any more is because theres not enough donations or subscriptions to cover the dedi costs.
ive been paying them for the last few months out of my own pocket.
As i am not working i can not afford to keep spending 200 quid a month.
I was never in it for the money as you would love to tell people but i did need the costs to be covered.

Gloat all you want but ill tell you now not very many people donated.
it was £2.50 here a £2.50 there.
no where near the crazy amounts you recieve.

The fact is ive never hosted from a home pc as i have never needed to execpt when i was hosting for dan.
I would never want my server hosted from a home pc as its laggy as hell due to virgin media been crap.

I find it funny as hell how the spam on the thread has been alowed to continue.but once again no mods doing anything they should be.

ur getitn ripped off very badly then, as i pay 200 euros.. 180 odd £? for 2xdedis.. both quad core 2.66ghz+ 8gb ram 100mb con etc lol


also all my items are fairly priced.. theres stuff from 50p to £25

i wouldnt call that overpriced considerin some stuff on OS used to sell for £100+

there are posibilities to host servers for free with no costs, I did that 5 years and i`m not rich.

I agree that this thread should not have been posted in the first place, especially after all the flaming that has gone on over the past few weeks and the warnings from admin, but hey, Ben will never change and will probably always go out of his way to start a row.

I don't actually think that the post has turned out as Ben intended, as Paul seems to have risen above arguing back and bowed out gracefully.

Compared to threads of late, this seems to have remained quite civil and not had too many of the usual idiots on it yet fuelling the flames.

Maybe Ben will give up when there is nobody left to insult or wind up :thumbup2:

Yeah you used to be able to run private servers for free from home, but then demand grew and people wanted lag free servers.

Take FourHeros for example, its not going to run very well on a machine with a home connection when 180+ people are on.

really depends on where you live and what kinda net/line you have.

i mean where i live i can get a 100 meg line and buy a pc cheaper then a dedi

i have an amazing machine which i could use for a dedi

but virgin media is crap.
they cut the connections every now and again so every one laggs out.
When dan was using my pc as a dedi i was more than capable to run any server
its a dual core 7500 + 500 gig hdd 8 gig ram
but the net is what lets it down so theres no way i canm host it from home so a dedi is the only way to go.
so for those still trying to argue that you can run a server from home.this is not always possible.
I also invested in doss protection to save the biffs trying to ruin my work and hack attempts as they did in the first days of darkrealm.

so there where costs which i payed for out of my own pocket.

i no for a fact changing the server to a high rate would have made the server a sucess as alot mor mir players would play a high rate.
and donate a hell of a lot more but i didnt make salvation to do that.
i said in a previous post and i wanted to stick to why i started in the first place.
a medium rate just wasnt meant to be although i had a lot of players
