New Desert Caves

This will be my last bit of public info for now - Im getting tired of keep supplying everything, my plan of posting stuff with the hopes other will follow just aint working - so enjoy this little lot for now, its the maps + MiniMap + Redone MMAP files + Spawns etc for the Desert Caves where the new Lizards live (Mon20)...

You can add a place to get into the caves yourself as you see fit, ive only put the mapinfo for between the caves for now..

Actually thats not true especially in mir3's case

There are very few skilled people working on these files and indeed not that much intrest in them from the 'noobie' crowd

Demonic i know you release everything u find but u know the chinese forums etc in which to find this stuff others do not so all they can do is wait for the likes of u to release

How can u expect others to find stuff if they dont know where too look Google doesnt be particuarly helpful in this case

Most of the stuff left to do on the files is translation and with the ammount of npcs u wont see many people taking up that task
From what ive seen with things such as the message system it requies extensive knowledge of npcs and from what ive seen u do you also need to know sql again something the masses dont know

You have the knowledge to do all this dont get annoyed cause others dont

Let me touch on Translation, I do not read, speak or otherwise chinese. I have at my disposal a web browser, MS Word and some common sense. To read chinese in my programs to start with I installed a plugin for MSWORD, i did a search on MS Site to figure out what this was and eventaulyl with loads of bother i finally got MS word to give me the option to view the txt files in Chinese. Now opening the txt file in Notepad (showing Ascii) and then again in MSWord to show me the chinese. I open up babel which im pretty sure everybody knows about by now - I copy the chinese txt from word into Babel and it chucks out a english (sort of) translation. I read what its saying and re-word it as required.

Now Babel can throw out some wierd crap as you all probably found but this is where you look at the contect of the npc at hand - obiuosly one selling Potions does not need a long story to go with it - so then its a simple case or totally re-wording it with simple txt. A Example been the Daily quests - they give some long winded story about going to SV and killing things, surely easy enough to re-word this to Go to SV and Kill 50 RedSnakes and you have 24 hours to complete this task.

As for SQL - again I use Google if i come across anything that need more than the mere restore DB etc. You can bet any errors on SQl you get have ben asked 1000's of time before. Now how many people who visit this forum have the knowledge to sucessfully install and update MIR3 server (or any for that matter) ???? As the questions I ask on here and RZ seem to go un-anwered on the whole, i can narrow this down to me then is it? My guess is the people who are "in the know" probably steer away from here as the posts are the ones that could be solved very very easy just by searching the forum, the web or using some common sense.

Maybe I work too quickly or something probably becuase instead of sitting back and waiting for somebody else to work it out - I actually get on with the task at hand and find the answers - if i can do it - then others can to , i was not born with the ability to install and fix a MIR3 server - I learned as i went along...

Alot of lomcn dont seem to have much common sense (No offence to anyone)
They ask first think later and i admit you giving them everything on a plate certainly aint helping
Maybe teasing them would be better You know show them that something is possible and see if they can manage it on there own

Everyone learns as they go along however alot of people dont bother learning
They see a guide they use the guide and then they ask questions almost like there afaid to try new things

I wouldnt mind working on these files as i do like em however I'd much rather be able to use most of QGO's client files (i.e. New Maps, Smaller Data Files etc)
Theres not enough of a user base for these files You need to make the files appeal to the QGO crowd and only way you can do that is by making the download as close to QGO's mir3 as possible

There be alot more intrest if someone with QGO's mir3 only had to download a 3-4mb patch and that was it

I beleive Nightwolf has taken that route (Euromir3 files/maps etc), its not something i play or intend to play as im "old School" i Guess. Making EuroMir3 client work with these servers files is actually real easy, if you replace the maps, mapinfo, Mob spawns and Merchants - you have yourself a server that can use "most" of the Euromir3 client. As nightwolf mentioned to me, its good not everybody is producing the same set of files as variation is good amongst private servers - which leads me back to me not providing everything on a plate otherwise your gonna end of with 20 servers with everything the very same.

I personally dont have a issue downloading a 1.2 gig file Once (cos thats all your doing) as I have broadband, ive never experieced corrupted downloads from MIR3 Site or failed downloads - i clikc a files - Save as and leave it to get on with it. People will happily download Lineage 2 client and not bat a eyelid yet that is even bigger - maybe i underestimated the number of people with broadband - i thought 56K was well and truely dead ... Before you say about HD Space required to have Euromir client and a private server client - HD space is VERY cheap these days - I have both Euromir clients + 3 chinese clients + 2 korean clients along with my client i use to play my server - still got loads of space left for all sorts...

Maybe thats what is needed actually - if i stop providing stuff - this wioll force others to jump into action and push out stuff - so its my fault

In a way i agree with that However i beleive teasing people showing them that something is possible to find/do will encourage them to do it more
Your not at fault for releasing But people like things handed to them on a plate and that needs to stop
Why dont u provide everyone with the chinese forums u use and let em find stuff for themselves

Say you get the ingame email system working but tell no one then no one will know about it and thus not even try

ive nothing against downloading a 1.2gb I infact download about 2gb of Movies and Tv Shows a week so thats not a problem However to alot of other people even with BB it poses a problem

Another issue i see is that there is infact a small ammount of people who know about it Im sure if alot of qgos players knew about these then they would use em

getting back ON TOPIC. these desert maps are from euro mir3, and infact only 4 are desert caves, the rest are the new zt. Therefor, without using the euromir's object files i dont see how we can use these?

EDIT: jus tested, they work fine, dont see how we didnt have these maps befor?
