I find that the game is pretty slow and there seems to be alot of attraction so loads of noobs just mob steal makes leveling a pain aswell as the protection shield its using that reboots my computer, by the looks of things its not been fixed yet or down to something im running other than logging out every 50minutes to log back in its a great game.

Yeah its free to play forever something which I personally see as the future of MMORPG's

I can see advertising and premium shops being the way for companies to make there money rather than fixed monthly subscription fees

Naw, "premium" MMOs will always require a subscription.
They just couldn't recoup the development and running costs doing it that way.

I'm pretty sure the likes of WoW have enough people addicted to the game to cough up money for the latest premium item or skin for their character..

The model seems to be working well enough for Shanda in China since the majority of their games are now F2P and Shanda are huge in China

WoW was developed on a 10 bob budget and became massively popular.
The chinese have the advantage of cheap-to-develop MMOs.

Something like vanguard/eq2 costs millions and millions to develop and then a crap load more to keep running.

So you're suggesting western mmo's cost more to develop? Whats makes them special? If Asian companies can dish out mmo's for a dime a dozen then why can't western developers?

Games like Lineage are Asian are they not? Infact the majority of large mmo's are Asian based well bar WoW.

I recently read a report from the makers of Call of Duty 2 and the money they made off one simple map pack on Xbox Live it was well into the millions. (I'll try find it again if your interested).

Asian games are cheap to churn out because they re-use the same resources and features over and over again. Lineage2 was the most succesful subscription game ever to come to the west, and since then, ive seen the interface, modelling style, and playstyle used and used, and then used some more, untill they eventually ripped the arse out of it and it became ****ed.

Then you take a game like silkroad, which is innovative AND free. Its great because the game is so ****ing overcrowded that it lags to ****, and they are so desperate to keep players that you have to be caught botting 4 times before you are actually banned.

want to know what the most innovative game to come out of Asia in recent times was? 9Dragons, and 9Dragons had a $10million development cost.
