Serious suggestion about forum mods

Friendly and playful are both relative, how do you decide what is ok and whats not?

Meh, Still think Tai's a grabby little twat, but as far as modding goes he doesn't seem to do anything the others mostly don't.

Almost all of them use mod/admin powers to get in sly digs/abuse or one sided arguments that can then not be defended. Its what mods everywhere do, not sure why people are bothering to complain. Its their forum, if you don't agree with it, don't use the forum. Clearly BH/Sam have no issue with it as they too do the same things.

Which ultimately is down to the server team, you'll still have to use LOMCN for updates etc to mir chronicles, so i fail to see how this idea is taking off? [This isn't being slanderous it's a general question and me pointing out the blunt fact].

For some perhaps it's you're right, and its a genuine lock, but the majority of the time it's getting a last word in, I can picture the little giggle to themselves as they do it. Just lock a thread if its off topic or out of control.

I can imagine most of your abuse is from the people that our guild troll, after all, you don't see us getting worked up on here? It's a Mir community brother, the attitude of the player has remained the same for over 10 years. Look at tai, he uses the same mentality when arguing with forsaken members. It's a Mir forum for private servers, if I wanted to have proper discussions I would make a phone call rather than posting on a 15 year old game forum. Call it childish if you will, I'll not lose any sleep over it.

Don't take it so seriously, you've got 20 moderators to police ONE active section of a small forum. Infractions don't effect anyone, not sure why they would get "butt hurt"

I mean genuine abuse, not minor abuse or anything like that. You'd honestly be surprised most PM's we get. And no I don't just mean winters etc, I mean a large variety of members who think we're "taking the piss" with infractions etc. When we're upholding the rules. We don't have 20 moderators, there are 2 admins that work on this section, and 2 specific moderators from what I remember. The super moderators genuinely look over each section, validate posts, infract other sections, ban spam bots. People think we just moderate here when we don't the single forum moderators have no power in that region at all [I think! I could well be wrong here].

As for it being a dad post, it's a neutral post, surprisingly most of my posts are. This forum is mainly used for the progression of Legend Of Mir 1 & 2, and has MMO sections aswell. It's not just primarily here so people can flame and debate, surprisingly we want progress on files etc, and these files ARE important. Players don't want to have to wade through about 6 posts of guild flame or look through a thread to look for status updates etc when a server goes down just to read "servers down, ffs what's going on?!" all that sort of ****, because guess what? It's annoying to read when you're looking for ACTUAL information.

Personally as a whole I am fed up of this section, it gains more ****ing drama by the day, and it's always the same people that come back out of hiding to fuel it further. On the tai comment, the reason I said that about tai is that is his personality / who he is, it hasn't changed over the years other than he used to be a much bigger gobbier sod [Don't think he'll disagree here :P] but he IS an admin, you might just be ILovePie but you're just a member, sorry if this offends you, but you're not the one who spends hours on backend stuff, forum updates, style sheets, spambots, you just come here and post. That's it.. I have no complaints with this and I wish our members enjoy posting but if they can't find the line between having a laugh and being an arrogant sod, then good riddance.

Chronicles uses facebook to provide links to updates.

Updates etc can all be found on the Mir Chronicles website/Facebook page anyway.

That's fine then, some people would use facebook, others LOMCN maybe some of you. your own forum. We're not stopping you from branching out. A large majority of people stopped reading these forums DUE to the flamers, they couldn't post constructive critisism without "this is fine stfu". Really you seem to think that LOMCN is the ends all. It's not, it's just the biggest forum of mir left, you want to try to branch out, fair enough. Good luck.

No one is disputing your neutral posts, you're one of the good ones. Theres a section for Mir files, the individual sections are for the players to talk about the game. Even the hitlers of the Euro forums (Duckbill / Enembius) wern't complete asses. We have a search button to be able to look for threads, though even Chronicles rarely has new threads made anymore.

All mir players have the same level of intelligence as they used to back in the day of playing. You still have your serious people, like SirTwist for example who wants to stop poverty. I come on here for a laugh, the forum is a DULL place without some banter.

Tai being Tai, and just because he's been an ass for years, doesn't make my post any more irrelivent, only the fact that he's been the same for much longer than Chronicles has been around for? Personally, i've only been on this forum since about March this year, but from what other people say he's not exactly a liked person. Though maybe thats the reason for the nerd rage locking?

As for all the back end work that goes on, i've ran many forums back in the day, and by the looks of this forum, nothing happens in the background lol. The forum dies when Chronicles server goes down, it can't handle 30 people viewing it.

Theres probably a good reason other servers arent interested in joining here, and run separate forums, i'd be wondering why, and try to bring a mir community together... but what do I know, i'm just a casual player

They could have resolved this issue a long time ago by adding a lightly moderated section in Chronicles , it's all about catering to your audience and as you can see by the lack of activity on these sections recently, they've either banned or driven the majority of activity away. I suspect the majority of users on this server play to have fun, wave e-peens, flame and troll (that's how mir has always been) but the life has been slowly sucked out of us by the amount of power hungry moderators trying to justify their roles, I remember when the euro forums were just as fun to read as playing the game is, now i'm just browsing locked threads at the first sign of any life. Look at the threads in the guild section that get the most views, it's controversy that generates such interest, it's peoples jealousy and hatred of other guilds that keeps the game and forum alive for this server. I don't hate Tai, he's done a good job keeping the forum alive, who would have thought mir would be so prevalent in our lives still in 2014? I just wish himself and moderators just took a step back and relaxed sometimes. That is all.
