Dear Mir Chronicles Team,

we appreciate you are extremely busy and exhausted and are working very hard to get the server back online.

The mir community will be patient and wait for your sever however if you could give us regular updates and possibly an ETA it would allow us to plan our days as there is nothing worse sitting by a pc waiting all day, if you tell us 'we hope to have something sorted by 6pm' at least we can go out for some fresh air and be back by that time.

/Kaza

Being as you asked so nicely

Morning all,

The dedicated server company are becoming less and less helpful and my confidence in them is rapidly evaporating...

We are currently looking into alternative hosts with better protection plans.

As always we really appreciate your support and are sincere sorry about this unexpected down time.

tbh couple week ago there was a couple of hundred people playing mir2forever..now theres 20-30people? Eternal has removed potcash from game 2 weeks back and made several other drastic changes in a bid to bring back the people such as Path who donate n pay high to his server- in my estimations...I wouldn;'t rule him out feeling threatened and having something to do with this...having noticed his server that once made thousands a month now makes fk all and is dead.

You are suggesting that the most legit member of the Mir community is behind the attack? One who ran several websites to help members of Euro and USA? Not only that, this server now makes no money (his own choice to remove PC) so where is the motive?

PC was implemented on this server to pay for the dedi and removed because - and I quote Eternals words

I never created this server to make money I created it cos I love Mir and I wanted it to continue after the demise of USA Mir. I only ever put GameCash in reluctantly to pay for the dedi and it should never have stayed in as long as it did as it has fostered a huge imbalance. There was never going to be a good time to remove it but it has to be done for the good of the game.

Question....

Did the team really not consider attacks? I mean, given the history of this forum, I think just about every server has come under some sort of attack or another?

Why would you not pick a host capable of deploying protections when required to do so? I can understand not having them if they cost money, but you should have at least made sure the company had them available...this one clearly doesn't, and thus has caused bigger delays than it should because you now have to find a completely different host....which may or may not cost more time and money if you're roped into a contract....which is prob likely if there as crap as to have zero protection lol

Unfortunate start for a potentially good server that has brought back a massive community

Maybe they thought the attack would happen at launch and then stop once the person(s) had done what they wanted. Can only assume they thought it would be an hour thing to try ruin launch, not a malicious attack to try stop the server opening completely.

The Dedi company Sam is with can handle most DDOS attempts but this is a massive attack. It's not one guy with a server. Once you get to those level of attacks you're talking a lot of money to get a Hardware firewall installed (Looking at a grand a month to stop a 7GBPS attack). Sam's exploring another option at the moment that might work out and should provide adequate DDOS protection. And it that fails there are other options still

They're not tied into any contract with the current host either btw, they're free to move away with no penalties.

Hhhmmmm

If that's the case, unless this attacker owns a company full of servers to get for such an attack....then he's getting a service

These services are known to cost 100s of £/$/€, and I doubt he would keep it up for long. These kinds of people usually charge for 24 hours of DoSing per charge.

Unless....he's a malicious hacker himself and has deployed and has access to such things himself....then he could do it for a long time, but would such a talented person waste his resources to take down a Mir server? Probably not lol.

Chances are it's a brainless idiot with more money than sense, I suspect after a couple days or a week, the DoS attacks will become minimal or simply cease to exist

How sad can you be to f00k up others people work?! This will not change determination of lots of people to play, actually will strengthen them.

Oh believe me, i've been following this group for a while now and all they've talked about is Chronicles / AceM2 / Apple2.5D (A3M2). Originally i joined to see if i can get a newer source and all the resources but ended up reading up about Chronicles from links they had found themselves. Pretty funny really, kind of an obvious culprit too... DuH?

is LOMCN still messing up for other peolple aswell?

Seems like there doing the forums and chronicles.

the forum is running slower for everyone mate, could just be due to the high number of people logging on etc..
