You might lose some of the hardcore Mir fans, but you would probably gain a bigger outside base.

Also I like what Breezer said, having spells max to level 2, then require a book for level 3, this could be the best of both worlds.

Outside base? Not really.
Mir, the people currently playing mir, are the hardcore Mir fans. The game is ancient and really really ****.

So forcing any players to leave, is really a bad idea. This, will do that imo.

Maybe make them drop more often? like 2/3 droping a week. then makes guilds go boss hunt etc.

I havn't read any posts on here, I'm just gonna give my opinion.

Yes, I think all spells should be in shops. The pros definatley outweigh the cons. One massive pro is actual motivation to level and hunt. And another main pro is that at least on a basis of skills, everyone is on a level playing field. You don't have some no skilled player running around like he runs the place because he was the lucky ****er who got FF lol.

In my opinion you earn the right to have skills by achieving the level required to use them.

I have no idea why everyone is against this.

This will have zero effect on the economy and will effect class balance in a positive way.

Skills such as TDB/FF/FD/Curse/Poisoncloud are essential skills to fufill your classes role, making who has them based on a lottery is stupid.

Atleast make it some sort of quest chain.

Curse is not essential to class role , all it does is makes fights stupid once a tao shows up with it, by far worst/most unbalanced skill to be put in mir.

You can never drop a skill, once you have it then I cant be removed or lost.
This is why its bad idea.

Just revamp your drop system through coding or don't be so lazy when it comes to creating drop files.

Put them in shops and sub lvl 26 items too IMO, (22 Armours, not level 26 weapons though) it will mean all players have things to strive for and level up for, and will also make things easier for the lvl grind (Mir is a Grindfest afterall), As saying they are attainable already, thats from the elite guilds and those who camp/hunt places 24/7, which those of us who are more casual cannot do, also getting in these guilds as a new player is nigh on impossible. They are fully equipped already to take down the mobs/bosses and run the dungeons they need too, yeah grinding for gold to buy skills is as good a challenge as running for bosses. And will keep everyone happy and on an even keel when it comes to being competitive.

Also a bit off topic, is there anychance to remove that 10k fee from the Trust Merchant so us lowbie new players can sell our added stat items without there being a bit hit to profit margins, and make those items people put in there a bit cheaper for us too?

Cheers :)

id say keep the skills in drop files but from normal bosses even the rare ones like FF Rage Profield etc, but make bosses drop these more often. Start adding caves like BattleGround (this was a camped cave by so many for months on end), make it so you have 2/3 floors getting harder, different mobs and bosses, make it your own.

Ad in higher level caves where AC is lower but HP is higher and give us more content rather than making decisions like this all the time.

Place shops as they used to be so that all sold items can be bought by different players.

there are other things you can do over this to make it more effective and more joy able by all. I find orcs is to hard for the EXP you get and even in groups the exp you get shared after that is crap and still take a while to kill, maybe sort these caves out so there not always "group hunt" caves, but keep boss as hard as he is this way we can hunt / level / grind but cant solo kill the boss, maybe make a descition about making all Boss's like this for places like WT, ZT IWT IZT KH etc etc so that's where grouping is required.

No
because not only does it encourage bots to farm gold for yourself
it encourages buying gold with irl cash
and encourages irl cash deals for the books which drop = pay to win
If players cant handle a bit of a wait for something the answer is to leave for a couple of months and come back when the server has been going a bit longer and what is now rare has become more generally available.

Bonjour,

The team have been discussing the possibility of potentially having all skills available in shops at a high price dependent on the level and use of the skill.

Having skills in shops is apparently quiet common in many mmo's but as I have only ever played Mir as an mmo (mostly years ago at that), I am in two minds on whether or not this would be welcomed or not.

I didn't want to make another drastic decision without first gathering some metrics to base it upon (so here we are)...

Pros:
- Skills have been reported as being to rare and unrealistic to achieve in a given time frame.
- Players would rely more on skill of the game rather than advantage of skill(s).
- Each class would have access to his or her tools to be able to pvp/hunt at full potential.
- Potentially eradicate some balance issues.
- Provides incentive to level.

Cons:
- Skills have been reported as fine and achievable.
- Potentially introduce some balance issues.
- Not in line with Mir's traditional grind factor.
- Potential increase of bots to gather gold to buy skills.

My opinion:
It goes against traditional Mir's grind factor(s), yes, however, if I was a player I could/would potentially want this, I could focus on grinding items/hunts to gather gold to access the skills that would ultimately unlock enjoyment of the game.

We are introducing new skills as of 2.0, some of which I can custom coded myself and it would be nice to have them be used and tested.

With the above being said, I can foresee a switch in balance (ie wizards no longer moaning, but another class doing so), as well as a potential increase in botters to farm gold to buy the skills (although we have an active campaign against bots).

I would really like the gather the thoughts of the community, is this something you may want to see or is this unrealistic idea?

Bare in mind that the skills would also be obtainable via drops and that the prices of certain books are likely to be very high.

Thoughts?

Sam

I voted "Yes". Like all players, I have my own opinions on the game should be. I also have played since euro beta and have spent ALOT of time playing Mir and have been addicted to the point of obsession much of the time the game has been out. I also quit college to play in the early days which was a very bad idea and a low point of life :-P

So, I feel I am fairly justified to have my say as I have spent more time on Mir than I have on another game or pasttime.

In all the time I have played, I have concentrated on solo grinding and not group hunting or boss killing. I have played a Wiz the majority of my time, followed by Warrior/Taoist in equal parts and on Chronicles, an Archer.

I have never been able to get the skill books available to my character level by the close of the relevant servers. This means I have been able to get to the level required for the likes of FF etc and not been able to afford the spells. I do not think this is the way the game should be, even if this IS the way it has ALWAYS been. I feel disappointed that I made the effort to level to 44+ etc and cannot use the skills, playing a wizard at L44 using tbolt/firewall/lightning is not true to the character.

I absolute think this is a good idea and is more in line with other games (like WOW etc) where you level knowing the book is in store, rather than find FF and make a Wiz from scratch to use it etc. I don't feel the current system for skills books where you have the same chance of getting your max skill as winning the euro millions is fair. Also, I think it only advantages the players who can farm bosses all the time which tends to be certain guilds.

I think this should happen, but I'm just one voice among many, I felt strongly enough I wanted to have my say in full though!

I do think this could open a can of worms with spell balancing etc though. I think it will potentially show FF is overpowered and some classes with all their skills are not meeting the grade. I believe this issue should be addressed when it arises however, rather than disguised by the fact spells are so rare.

But its ok for a wiz to come in and just own with FF?

Difference is wizzys dont chuck FF from the other side of the screen like curse, and Curse pretty much slows everyone in the area in 1/3 casts even at lvl 0-1...lol

No spells in shops. Compromise would be skills up to level 35 ish
I know there are a lot of dedicated solo ers who grind away quietly but solo isnt the best way to pay an mmorpg and I think you and the other solo players accept this. Eventually most of the skills become available to everyone as long as the server lasts. Having all the skills early on is for servers that vanish quickly.

No is the best option as this will just make the idea of a low exp server turn into a typical Project 69 server where you dont need to work hard for a skill as you can just buy gold and become one of the hardest hitters. I can only imagine Apex coming up with these ideas as now they have ran out other things they want to alter on this server

I think its a stupid idea, while your at it why not put all items in shops as well that way we can all just sit in town and do nothing.
Why cant you just let the book shop populate as items are sold to it ?
