Some Nostalgic Fun

For those that care I thought it might be a nice idea to share our backgrounds, as no doubt here in 2018 some of us will have a lot to share. Soooo, just to get the ball rolling, I'll start first I guess.

Euro Mir 2 was actually the first MMO I ever played back in late 2003, so for me it introduced a whole new and confusing world. I exclusively played Dragon server. The first character I played was a Tao name PrinceVegeto (was a HUGE DBZ fan) which I leveled to 35, and retired there because I found it too much of a ballache. I then started a Warrior named SubZero and got that character to 43 before I called it quits all together.

I was basically one of those that was forever poor, I have no idea how many days of my life I wasted mining for Platinum in Mineral Mines. The game didn't really get interesting for me till Apex opened there doors to me, they showed me so much of a game I hadn't experienced before, and the people in general were awesome, they were definately my best days.

During christmas time of 2005 I started my first Private server in Ragezone, because several of my friends flocked there. Just like Euro it was very low rate, possibly the lowest xp rate Private server I've played to date. I picked up a new identity and played a Warrior named JonnyCage & a Wizard named Raiden, since playing Ragezone I've always used those names for other private servers too. Before the server closed down in 2007/2008 I was 1 in 10 people that managed to reach level50.

For a short period of time after Ragezone closed, I was a GM and Advisor to a Coder known as TheDeath for a small server he put up using Ragezones name. I've no idea whether he's involved with Mir anymore, but he always did most things behind the scenes, didn't use forums much etc. After that project ended I found my way to Mir Revenge, if memory serves me correctly Ragezone & Mir Revenge had quite the rivalry at one point to. I only really played Mir Revenge for a year or so, before I was fed up because quite frankly I just burnt myself out completely on Mir.

I dabbled in other servers such a Project 69, and other much lesser known servers for a few weeks here and there. I also played Chronicels briefly but time constraints didn't allow me to play much. So to be honest this is the first server that's brought me back in 8-10years, and it's been fun playing again so far.

Hopefully the wall of text hasn't put people off lol, needless to say I'll enjoy reading other peoples stories:encouragement:

I played euro back 02/03 on Pserver warrior under the name HardTarget. I met my Mrs on Pserver all those years ago. Been together 11yrs this year. Ive give up at lvl41 when the server was bugged to crap lol. i remember thedeath along with lilcooldoode(who I know irl) and mentaL on RageZone. I managed to get I think it was 2/3rd highest char on there Named Dodge (wizard) until lapta at the time donated his way to the top then he made Mir revenge which I played too under the same name (Dodge) and was the highest on there for ages until again the donators popped up. Then moved to here really played a few servers in-between but nothing major.

Started on D server, made the wizard XxEvolutionxX because Evolution was taken and I was like, 12 years old. /cringe

Brother made BigPete warrior, was our first mmo we played together and was a good laugh and made many memories. Ended up sharing both characters to Todd/Grant white when me and my brother quit, figured they'd see better use with them (and they did!)

I think I played Ragezone but it wouldn't have been for very long. First proper private server I think I got invested in was Athena's Lord of Chaos Mir Server (LOCMS) which was a 1.4 cluster**** server but by far one of the most enjoyable servers I'd ever played, with a lot of decent well thought out content. It's through this that I learnt the intricacies of Mir, Scripting, Programming, Duplicating items, Exploiting, Cheating, you name it, all learnt from here. I was /Josh on there.

Played MirRevenge and pretty much all of Lapta's servers as /Sephiroth til that cash cow died, tried to get into P69 but couldn't really, ended up sharing a char there.

From there I guess the next big one was OldSkool for me again as /Sephiroth (FF7 fan BTW LUL) and I've played probably about 100 other different private servers since then, usually under the name Koriban or Kori. I'm not addicted, I swear I can quit at any time. :smilet-digitalpoint

Started after gettin sky years ago, channel 220 i think -Game network ran a tv show about a mmorpg, watched it for weeks/had no internet.
Few months later my friend was clearing out his fathers flat, on his desktop was mir.

I was shocked ...what shocked me more is he said he had an account on it so we logged in, his sub 20 noob named Trowaa was in mw in the middle of a sabuk war, after a few hours we spoke about his fathers belongings...and i ended up buying his pc..well mummies pocket did and we then got AOL dial up. #retro

Since the day **years ago i've played pretty much every day, at some stages doing 8..9..10..sometimes 15 (good old st kr eh xele?) Hours a day, after growing up no rpg filled it spot and sadly i'm still here today.

The days of me whooping you outside book shop on P Haha then to later meet irl, played euro with you and pvped u nearly everyday and never found we lived like 10 miles from each other until like Oldskool crazy world.

It literally was my childhood............................

Start on Phoenix as Fanta (I was like a 11..and was drinking Fanta at the time..) .then lost the details to that around 1.5/1.6 so started DemonFist.

first private server was oldskool, and pretty much played all of Ben's servers.

Yeah I remember you man, of course I do ^_^. I especially remember the other names you quoted to. The only thing I'm not sure about is did I meet you the first time playing Firewarrior or Xx69xX lol. I do miss Dan, he was a awesome guy to speak to and a great hunting partner. I still remember the countless hours we smashed FrozenTemple together.

Mandy, I'm not sure if you're aware but I met her originally through Euro. And actually she's one of the first people that told me about Ragezone before I joined. She's also partly the reason how I managed to get in to the Apex guild too, she really is a lovely person .

Do you still keep in touch with them? And if so, what are they doing now man?

started in my school days like others after watching on the TV with friends wooma temple being explored! Instantly we all got heavily addicted and newcomers today won’t understand the fact it took DAYS to download the fricking client. (AOL 56k dial up YEH BABY)

i remember one one of my friends on D server (dexter182 and serjtank182) taking us on a hunt in bichon mines when we first started, I think he was like lvl 22 and we was in aw of his greatness lol. The place was packed with players. Every night we would be on. I did a 36 hour straight stint with my cousin making me sandwiches to keep me going...mental only really play max for about 4 hours these days after work.

i played buckshell got to lvl 44 wiz and my mates were cptnpage bigwebbsmrs and our trusted Tao lvling partner dejavou through BDD corridors. I can defo remember seeing poxy phantomwizard at EVERY kingscorp spawn for about 2 years solid! Good times eventually joined the dark side guild “revival” and we bossed. I remember losing a recall ring in a rewind which was heartbreaking at the time. But was karma really as due to the lag spikes somebody tt in MW and dropped it. (I was gonna give it back, honest)

since played chronicles as my signature says but it was pretty easy with exp caves got lvl 50 in about a week. Still enjoyed it tho.

Mir is truly an epic game. Love it. Always come back to it and always will.

really enjoying apocalypse, has a good feel to it, got a feeling it’s gonna be around for a while.

i love threads like this, really brings it back how nearly 20 years ago i saw it advertised on GameNetwork and though yeah ill try that..

only Dragon was out when i started and i made a Tao i cant remember the name but i do remember this being my first ever mmo and i saw a message saying type /MyRating your username and password to get your server rating.

yes i fell for it.... yes i was hacked.......

i think i was level 14 at the time...

so i made a new tao called KnightfoX and played with my brother Soulfoxx (who we biked for a bit towards the end)

i remember meeting a guy called Zoneboy (fight club!) who we played with all the time and then towards the end i played alongside a guy called Hardonails

met some nice people, met some complete buggers, met an amazing woman, almost caused the split up of her relationship >.< sorry Paul

fun times, looking back now its strange how even though i thought it was the dogs bollocks, just how corrupt it was....

Soulfoxx got TinCups death drop which included a proring, then soulfoxx was hacked and the items dissapeared... oh well the good old days ^^

Wow Great thread!

Euro as expected, but P-server! (dragged onto it by the fella who introduced me to mir).

First ever Private server was "Legend" loved it so much! (had heaven armour twice, back in the days dura 0 would breaks items and Xele and his crew pking me over and over again until i broke the first one).

RNDPro - probably my fav memories when i think of private servers. (the upgrade npc :P')

Was a cold and windy night, rain was hitting my window not to hard but hard enough to wake me up, could hear the tap tap tap the raindrops was making on the window, my little teddy Albertros was nowhere to be seen (must have fallen off my bed). As a young child i always had this feeling you know, like a calling whispering in my ear now and again saying you will become something great...

One random night i decieded to sneak downstairs and put a pillow over the dialup as i just found out what porn was as a minor, i went onto find a video titled ‘BBC’, as i started watching that a pop-up appeared with legend of mir in it. With one hand grasped on my little wooden sword and the other hand clenching onto albertros the teddy, i realised this was my calling.. the sign!! A feeling what i can only describe as joy!! Power!! Running through my wooden sword i realised! This was my calling in life. I downloaded legend of mir.

That was how the legend of mir Ramboone was born.

Some interesting memories, I joined mir in 2001 after seeing it on Game Network, then a 2 day download over 56k dial-up broadband was mind numbing. I had just left school at the time and decided to buy my first PC and put it to good use, initially I played the Dragon server but it was too busy so moved to Phoenix after only a few weeks, I had a char called xxSEIFERxx but that got banned as part of the whole Sabuk Wall gold bug drama that seen around 200 characters removed & then I made a tao called Leo but by the time I had heard the server files were leaked and I began to work with Dan from RageZone as we had got our hands on the server files from the former dutch euro GM and I helped them get them working, I did then get shafted straight after and got punted out the whole ragezone thing, guess my job was done so I wasn't needed. Anyway that kick started my career in I.T. so all was good, I helped a few other random people setup servers over the years and then quit entirely so this is actually the first server I've played in about 7-8 years and apart from having very little time to play and falling behind everyone, it's a good server overall.

but FAO the apoc mir staff, if you need any server advice (windows server / sql related) then I'm always available to assist (10 years in enterprise IT support)

Excellent thread, love seeing how everyone got hooked on this ancient, 2D outdated pixelated game, which still has us all coming back for more of the same.

My Mir 2 journey began in about 2004 on Dragon Server. It was my sisters ex-boyfriend who got me in to mir, he played a a warrior called Liquidwind>>> (im sure he bought the char though) anyway he persuaded me a taoist was definitely the best class to choose, owns in pvp, by far the strongest and most fun to play.. Muthatucka was my character name, little did I know he just wanted me to run round PT as a noob healing him lol! That didnt last long, much like his relationship with my sister...and I was quickly playing mir alone with my skele ;o) (Did have a nooby wiz on P Server called Typh00n but it was too quiet, dont recall going beyond the T Bolting on Prajna Island stage).

Luckily a few players by the name of SexyWarrior/StrongArm + Denty recruited me in to NakedGang. did alot of levelling with a guy my sort of age called tony92 (still have as a friend on ********) and his dad CODKILLER. Basically learned to ponce exp hunts and rarely levelled solo as it was PAINFUL.
Eventually reach the level of 41 i think, went no further in levelling but somehow found myself invited in to Apex forgive me if they werent actually in Apex but Moonstarr, Linz, Caladin (highest level ingame, wizard?)

Anyway dabbled in a few private servers, tried P69 - never liked it though, had a horrible cheap HR feel with all the luminous coloured wings and weps etc
