Is it true if your going to windows 8 get the 8.1?

Windows 8 = tablet form
windows 8.1 = desktop form?

Windows 8.1 + Start8 (Or any of the start menu replacements) = Windows 7 with lots of improvements. Think of 8.1 as a service pack to 8 though it didn't introduce that many changes.

Chronicles works fine on Windows 8. Your Font may scale a bit differently (mine does) but it doesn't change anything playability wise
I can back this up, I had windows 8 and it ran ace perfectly fine, smooth as anything! The only thing I advise is if your machine come with norton scan, delete it ASAP!! I had it installed on mine and for some reason it thought a lot of the ace files including the exe opened in a different file format than they should there for making my files unusable. I eventually sorted it after a format though!

Good luck.

a decent graphics card will do the trick, 1gb dedicated minimum I'd say. As for RAM I'd say 4gb is enough, these files seem to run based on graphics cards rather than other stuff.

not sure acemir did that on 8 but eternal's mir2forever did that - text in all input fields would flicker making it very hard to see what you're typing but after pressing enter as in chat it would show up fine in the text field where others read it. I solved that problem by making win7 vmware vm and played in that, typical recent computer has plenty muscle to pull it off without any slowdowns.

The start menu which makes win8 like 7 is Classic Shell which I think is even free and is better than win7 menu. Make win8 to boot directly to desktop and win8 is in effect like win7

Only problem ive had with W8 + Mir is random crashes when I have anything in a USB port. Think this was happening with Fallen Heros server so unsure if its anything to do with their files and W8 =/

Laptop processors are not as high as the 3.4-4.8 you can get on a desktop.

Problem is, these files DONT run very well on old machines, older files e.g 2.3 run better on old machines, how ever this isn't the case for these. Newer the componants the better, graphics card more so!
