    ATI vs Nvidia

For the record, SLI is nothing compared to what ATI will unleash soon. Nvidia's businesses practices are childish, their cards overpriced and overhyped, and until recently they lied to their customers. ATI is by far the better company, and also the more experienced. Just wait for something we...

No. Not unless you faked some kind of attack packet to the server,

    Working Mir Client Source

Try it if you like.... But bear this in mind, in order to do it effectively, you'd need to capture each packet before sending, which chews ram. Then decrypt it, chewing CPU cycles. Then modify to your 'new' packet, which chews CPU cycles and ram. Then re-encrypt the packet, chewing CPU. Then...

    Working Mir Client Source

Wow. I'm shocked, suprised, and disappointed, all at once. The working Mir2 delphi client source has been circulating since before i left LomCN.... Problem is, in order to make any radical changes. you need the server source. Auction system, MirMail, the lot. All requires server-side...

    Firefox

Change your filesystem to NTFS, if you can. FAT32 is notorious for these kind of problems, whereas with NTFS i just kill the power & all is fine.

    PCI Express....

Yeah, the person needs to use AMD64 as their platform, as the intel solutions are almost non-existant. And as Demonic said, you need the nForce 4. Performance-wise, it's pretty much the same as the Nf3, except with the benefits of PCI-Express. However, Nf4 boards are pretty costly, last i checked.

    Firefox

Milo - that's because disk fragmentation corrupts your profile :P Happens to me a lot. Rampage - check the MozillaZine forums. (Google to find them).

    getting a harddrive to appear

Linux drives cannot be read in Windows, i'm sure you know. So i'm guessing you partitioned the 160gb drive into 2 sections, right? one for Linux, one for storage? Check with a partition tool, like Partition Magic, to ensure linux didn't swallow the whole HD.

easiest was to network to computers

Not necissarily, some home networking kits can be even easier than crossover cabling :P But yeah, Crossover should be the easiest, and the cheapest :P

    ram stick differences

Well, if brand names offer you extra comfort, get the Corsair. Else get the Samsung. If you;re going to spend > 50% of your time playing games, go with a AMD processor, else, get a Pentium4 with Hyperthreading. If you're getting PC4200, might be a good idea to get some brand name stuff...

    ram stick differences

Most of the time, that will happen. But it is not uncommon for ram which is running under it's rated speed to generate all mother of memory errors (Trust me on this ;))

    ram stick differences

Farril - if you're not planning to overclock, just get the cheapest you can get. If you are, get low-latency RAM. Remember to ignore the PC**** markings though, and check the speed of the ram. AFAIK, PC2700 is 333mhz, and PC3200 is 400mhz. Buy the RAM speed to match your CPU. Buy stuff rated...

    Building New Pc

Well, i just built my own PC recently. So i'll see if i can help. Firstly, change that graphics card. I know the pc world component centre did my ATI 9600 256mb for £70. And AFAIK, the 9600 owns the FX5750. Also, change the harddisk. Once again, the component centre offer the same amount of...

Then perhaps try a system restore? Reinstallation should really be your last option, but if you do, stick with XP Pro.

    ahh help

You should be able to turn off active desktop from the display control panel. Try looking around in there, there should be a tickbox. You might have to click a few buttons within the control panel to see it though (depending on your flavour of windows).

Computer aint running as fast as it should - help plz?

Could be any number of reasons. Try shutting down some processes, or toning down the GFX & Sound qualities ingame. Things like specular effects sure take their toll on older GFX cards.
