As for client side, I am on

Saphire X800 XTPE
ATI X800 Pro
ATI 9800XT
eVGA 6800GT
?? Geforce 4 MX440
?? Geforce 2 MX200

As for client side I have dealt with

eVGA 6800nu
eVGA 6800nu
?? Geforce FX 5700LE
ATI 9500 Pro

And you keep saying stuff like Oo HL2 is optimised for ATI... well erm.... HL2 is playable for everyone.... Doom 3 is HEAVILY optimised for nVIDIA more than any other game has been EVER, so stop *****in about ATI and Valve, just because Valve knows how to do things.

I always thought it was funny how ATI did better on game's licensed as "plays best on nVIDIA"

As for the 6600GT, it is a great card for the price, but don't expect to turn up the resolution or AA/AF at all.

I'm confused, you have 6 GFX cards running at the same time??

Of course it might help other people if you told them ATI cards in general did better in 05...

The 6600GT AGP beats the 9800pro substantially in new games like CS:S and Doom 3 (obviously) and wins in any other game that I know about.

It's a descent card, but there's a lot out there better.

How much is your budget?

As for HL2, initofitself yes, but the rest of the system matters too, just don't expect high res aa/af

i have a athlon xp 3200+ 512ram which will soon be 1gig..

I'll always stick by ATI beacuse there 2D is Alot better than Nvidia probably ever will be, Nvidia claim to have improved there cards 2D performace but it still never satisfys my needs, Combine a nice AMD CPU with a Nice ATI graphics card and you have a match made in heaven.

As for Nvidia, well it goes to show in FutureMark 03 when they was found to have specifically optimized there drivers for it and compromised there real world performance, how low they will go really.
