Half the english members on the forum dont have a clue we have an open source section
They dont know we have a set of server files with nearly everything upto 2.3 done and working (and it saves your char info :P )

So I understand why this person cant find it

not to tread or nice shoes , but ...

With Open Source , doesnt peoples inability to correct the mistakes they create by adding features create inconsistent bugs?

Ie : Arent the DM2 Files although full of additional features over Ledu ALSO full of Bugs that are yet to be fixed and make the servers unplayable???

Just a question...??? ^_^

Nope, there aren't any bugs i'm aware of.

Yes the previous files me and damian were releasing were buggy because of how we would join our code and some of my inexperience. :P

the lomcn project has got basically very few bugs due to people reporting them & the quick fixing by the coders

There is a fully running, working and playable test server, there has been for over a month now
Any bugs that are found are reported and fixed
the files are stable and run fine

Every code has bugs, every game has bugs hance why game companies make patches and bug fixes
The 2.3 demo files have bugs and as there is a team of 2 people working on it (one codder and Nightwolf) I dont see it going very far

The LOMCN Project has 7 codders all working to the one goal, little teams of 3-4 people working on NPCs,Db, etc etc and 20+ bug testers

Even if the LOMCN project falls apart server owners can still add to the code and upgarde there servers
If the 2.3 demo files stop then thats it players are stuck with the last update and no more updates will be released

If you look at the pros and cons of both sets of files then the LOMCN Project wins outright

The 2.3 demo files where found by Milo and since that day there has been very little updates or news on whats been added and whats going on
Yes you have been told that the files will be released for free but we have yet to see that
NightWolf has said he will have a server up soon, but again that is no good to server makers and owners as he will be the only person with the files

The LOMCN Project is updated daily and the files are free for anyone to download
Server owners could start making servers and add the updates as they are released (the files are working and stable and well able to be used for a playable server my test server proves that)

If people want to wait on the demo files to be released then thats there choice, but IMO there is better out there, freely avalable and ready to be used

You make it sound like there aren't bugs in non-open source projects - not true.
There always has and always will be bugs, it's finding and fixing them.
We have a good team and so far we haven't suffered.

Not just Open-Source, there were a few bugs in the 1.4 client and
server, however they were well covered up :) Not well enough covered for
experienced ppl to not notice, which is why there were so many cheats
back then, and still are a few.

Ahh Ok , thnx for answering my questions .

So why is it then that DM2 is as of yet unsuccessful??

I mean , yah theres a Test server n all , but , there are no ACTUAL servers running using DM2 are there???

Doesnt that then make it pointless? Why dont hosts use the DM2 files then???

Theres obviously a reason for this?? I would just like to know it , as all that is ever said about DM2 is that its like the best thing since sliced bread .. however no hosts are using the files ... it doesnt make any sense in my book unless the files are flawed in a way that outweighs the benefits??

lol theres one server at moment using them Judgement hosted by combie.

People don't use them because 99% of lomcn are retards and can't read. :D

Honestly thats a big reason why. :P

existing plumewind player/character databases are incompatible is why there arent more.

plus as nick said most of lomcn hasnt even realised there is an open source option

at this point development is still going on so there's almost daily updates, every time we change something major it means the char db has to be wiped (since we arent bothered with coding db convertor programs yet, why bother if this is only test version :p)
so it's kinda pointless to use as a public server atm :p

Considering it's open source , won't that always be the case then?

and surely there is SOME way to convert existing plumewind chara/player DBs over ... And also I agree , DM2 has not had enough exposure ... but that is largely to blame on the fact that development will ALWAYS be ongoing on an open source project , and people are interested in "Final Builds" , if you get what i mean...

Anyway goodluck with the development etc , Personally i think you guys are working Magic. Just a shame Hosts only see a good deal if it slaps them in the face , house visits anyone? :P

The whole aim is of the lomcn_project is to get the files up to offical standard Once thats done the binaries and such will be released as a proper everything included server file release (Much like the original 1.4 files)

Yes it will still be open source but the coding will be left to server owners themselves not the lomcn_project team

when mir release 2.4 will the coding team update to that?

also will the team go back to coding snippets in the DM2 forum to be inserted into the 2.3 code?
